Skillset's Employment Census is an invaluable piece of research for the audio creative media industries. The latest Census recorded 6,600 people working in Wales on Census day. This accounts for 3% of the total UK creative media workforce that responded to the survey. This is what the results revealed about them:
- 35% of those working in Wales on census day 2006 were working freelance.
- The largest sectors in Wales in terms of workforce are Independent Production, Television (terrestrial) and Web and Internet.
- 39% of the respondents in Wales were female.
- 1.1% of the workforce in Wales are disabled.
- 2.3% of the workforce in Wales come from ethnic minorities.
- 28% of the workforce in Wales are Welsh speakers.
