The Apple Authorised Training Centre is part of the Creative Exchange and is based within the Faculty of Arts, Design & Technology at the University of Derby. The Centre moved to the new Markeaton Campus in April 2007 and offers industry level media production courses and qualifications led by Apple Authorised trainers and working professionals. Apple training and certifications are available from Final Cut Studio. The Apple Training Program can offer the competitive edge using the latest digital production techniques. Hands-on HDV and Broadcast camera training is also available. Whether you are an editor or a director interested in post-production and sound design or you simply want to teach these skills in your workplace, then the Apple Training courses are designed for you.
The Creative Exchange also offers a range of Photo Imaging courses. Intensive training courses in Adobe Photoshop are on offer to both photographers and designers alike. Hands on training is also available with cameras and lighting systems

FCP 100 : An Overview of Final Cut Pro 6?Professional Editing in Final Cut Studio This one-day, hands-on course introduces students to the primary feature set and basic interface of Final Cut Pro. FCP 101: An Introduction to Final Cut Pro 6 This three-day hands-on course takes you all the way through the powerful advanced features of Final Cut Pro 6. Using world-class documentary footage, you'll learn to mark and edit clips, colour correct sequences, create transitions, apply filters and effects, add titles, work with audio, multi-camera editing and much more. In this course you will learn how to carry out standard shooting techniques using a professional tool. Learn the essentials and gain the confidence to use your new skills on location. Adobe Photoshop CS3- Essentials This practical one-day course covers the use of essential tools and techniques to retouch and enhance images, to work with layers and layer selections to create new compositions. Students also complete a number of guided exercises and examples. The course will train students to create suitable images for the web and print by using Photoshop. £195+VAT per person per day
Adobe Photoshop CS3- Advanced This is practical hands on training, students will learn advanced techniques and how to utilise new features to improve workflow and creativity. Students will cover isolating image areas by creating and saving selections, sophisticated manipulation techniques and enhancement adjustments. Students will complete a number of guided exercises and examples. This course will train students to create optimised images for the web, print and other documents. £195+VAT per person per day.
Adobe Photoshop for Photographers This one-day course that will enable students to release the potential of Digital Photography. Students will learn the techniques used to enhance, correct, select and manipulate images. Topics covered will include how and when to use sharpening, quick and accurate colour correction, advanced tonal adjustments and preparing work for web and print. £195+VAT per person per day
Digital Photography- Essentials This one-day course teaches students the essentials of taking photographs for the web and print using a digital camera. It covers how to take better pictures, using and setting up a camera, how to download images into the computer. This course also covers raw workflow using Adobe Bridge and Photoshop. Students will also complete a guided photographic assignment. £195+VAT per person per day
Digital Photography- Advanced This practical and intensive course will enable students to understand how and when to use a range of digital SLR features and techniques, including exposure bracketing, focus modes, raw and jpeg options custom settings and shooting modes. Students will experience the use of different workflows including Adobe Bridge, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom. It will also show students how to evaluate and achieve accurate exposure and to cope with difficult lighting conditions. This course will train students to achieve a professional standard of photography. £195+VAT per person per day.
OSX: An Introduction This practical one-day course is designed to give students an overview of Mac OSX. Students will learn how to complete work quickly to accomplish daily tasks with ease. Students will be introduced to a number of skills and features that will provide a good foundation for Mac Operating System operation.
