EM Business Needs Study Dec 07
In late 2007, Skillset secured funding from East Midlands LSC to:
- Build an understanding of the sectors skills needs
- Build an understanding of attitudes to training and skills
- Investigate the possibility of convening sector skills expertise in the form of a panel
- Make recommendations to underpin future sector growth and development
These objectives were realised through a combination of interviews and the facilitation of an event aimed at industry professionals from the East Midlands region in December. The event was also attended by EM Media, East Midlands Business, and UK Trade and Investment who, along with Skillset, shared their offers of support with the companies.
Collectively the practitioners and companies that participated in both the event and the interviews provided a credible body of evidence with a surprising degree of agreement and consistency in terms of need, ideas and suggestions. We very much appreciate the efforts of those who contributed.
