Skillset Film Trainee Network - How to become a Host Company

The new Skillset Film Trainee Network (SFTN) scheme is now looking for companies to offer work placements to talented trainees. Skillset heavily subsidises the trainee and acts as a liaison between the two parties.

When will placements start?

The first placements will commence in September 2008

Who can apply?

We are currently accepting applications from companies in the following sectors:

  • Production companies – within scope to pay or have paid the Skills Investment Fund (SIF) levy within the last three years
  • Animation (Features) - within scope to pay or have paid the SIF levy within the last three years
  • Post Production - working on productions within scope of the SIF only
  • Distribution – members of the Film Distributors' Association (FDA)
  • Sales Agents – members of Film Export UK (FEUK)
  • Exhibition – members of Cinema Exhibitors' Association (CEA)

The deadline for applications is: 12 noon on 28 February 2009.

If you know people who may be interested in becoming trainees, please ask them to go to our trainee pages.

The Skillset Film Skills Fund will be investing up to £350,000 in the Skillset Film Trainee Network in its first year of operation.

The Skillset Film Trainee Scheme was announced by Roy Button, Senior VP & Managing Director, Production, Warner Bros. Productions on 10th June 2008 as part of the Skillset Connects Series.
