Film Friendly London underpinned by Skillset's Film Skills Strategy
A recent report by the London Assembly confirms that Skillset and its film strategy A Bigger Future are making London more film friendly. The report states "It is clear that the implementation of this strategy is of great importance for the London film industry and therefore for London as a whole."
There is also a call for further funding support in the future: "Funding sources are in place for the current work but need to be renewed to complete the five-year strategy and move it forward in the longer term."
In highlighting the importance of filmmaking to London's economy, the Assembly's report stresses that London needs to become even more film friendly to provide further support to the capital's multi-billion pound movie industry.
Acknowledging that filmmaking is a highly-skilled, creative and technologically-advanced industry, the report states that continuous and up-to-date training is vital in order for London to remain competitive in the International market. The Assembly explains that the range and quality of skills in the capital are an advantage that can offset the London's less competitive position in some aspects of cost and convenience.
