National broadcasters in Northern Ireland
BBC Northern Ireland BBC Northern Ireland sites include news, sport, entertainment, music, education, programme information, Radio Ulster and Radio Foyle programmes on demand.
UTV is the ITV1 station for Northern Ireland and incorporates Television, Radio and New Media.
4Talent Northern Ireland - 4Talent runs Channel 4's talent development schemes and provides exclusive insights and opportunities from the worlds of TV, Film, New Media and Radio.
Agencies in Northern Ireland
Northern Ireland Screen offers funding, locations, services and facilities, exhibition and audience development, education, business support, and skills and training. Funding is available for development, production, markets, conferences and festivals and training. Skills Development initiatives run by Northern Ireland Screen include:
- Skills Focus (funded by UTV);
- Digital Shorts (funded in partnership with the UK Film Council); and
- the Skills Development Bursary Fund.
The Arts Council of Northern Ireland is the lead development agency for the arts in Northern Ireland. We are the main support for artists and arts organisations, offering a broad range of funding opportunities through our Exchequer and National Lottery funds.
Invest Northern Ireland - its role is to grow the Northern Ireland economy by helping new and existing businesses to compete internationally, and by attracting new investment into Northern Ireland.
The Department for Employment and Learning aims to promote learning and skills, to prepare people for work and to support the economy. It promotes economic, social and personal development through high quality learning, research and skills training, and helps people into employment and promotes good employment practices. The Department also offers funding support to individuals and businesses.
The Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure is the Government Department in Northern Ireland responsible for, among other things, arts and creativity, museums and libraries. It also advises the Department for Culture, Media and Sport on the distribution in Northern Ireland of National Lottery funding.
Education and Training
The Nerve Centre, based in Derry, brings popular music, film, video, animation and interactive multimedia together under one roof. It promotes creative collaboration and fusion between artists and provides a cultural outlet for many young people who feel excluded from what is traditionally regarded as the 'arts sector'.
Studio ON provides children and young people, and those who work with them, with an accessible and interactive space for training and experimentation in creative learning, new media and the arts.
Armagh Multi Media Access Centre (AmmA) is a multimedia creative learning centre in the Southern Education and Library Board. It is a centre where digital technology alongside traditional media can be used creatively by organisations and individuals from schools, the youth sector and the community.
CSV Media delivers work based training in Media and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills for individuals and the voluntary sector. This ranges from short courses in IT to professional media, web and multimedia training.
Northern Visions is an access media arts centre in Belfast offering training and resources in digital video, television and new media.
Workers Educational Association (WEA) is the leading provider of adult learning in Northern Ireland, offering a wide range of creative industries courses, among many others.
