At the University of Sunderland, you will find some of the most advanced Media facilities in the UK to give students hands - on practical experience throughout their course.
As well as fully equipped seminar rooms and a learning resource centre, the £9m media centre contains state-of-the-art TV and radio studios and digital post-production facilities, computer suites, fully equipped journalism suites with live news feeds and a surround sound cinema.

The following undergraduate programmes will be running from September 2006:
BA (Hons) Broadcast Journalism
This programme prepares students for a wide range of careers in news and programme production. Students will gain expertise in journalistic areas such as writing the news, interviewing, news reading, writing and researching; also in production areas such as editing and producing news bulletins.
BA (Hons) Film and Media Studies
Elements of the Film and Media Studies programme include: film analysis, American Film, European film, British cinema; the study of mass media, what the media produces and audiences for the media; cultural theory and popular culture. Students can choose to compliment the theoretical base with practical and studio based modules. BA (Hons) Media, Culture & Communication This innovative programme explores the diverse patterns of human communication, with particular attention to mass media.
BA (Hons) Media Production (Television & Radio)
The Media Production (TV & Radio) course allows students to combine practical projects in TV and Radio production with theoretical media studies. Practical elements of this course include video production, television studio production, radio production and live radio. Media and cultural theory elements include the history of the mass media, cultural theory and popular culture, popular television genres and cultural representations of women.
BA (Hons) Media Production (Video & New Media)
This programme also allows the combination of practical projects and theoretical subjects. Practical elements of the course include video production, new media production, digital video effects, webcasting and DVD authoring. Media and cultural theory elements include: the history of the mass media, cultural theory and popular culture, cyberculture, videogame theory and popular TV genres.
BA (Hons) Journalism
BA Journalism is a unique degree programme that offers students a route into a job in magazines and/or newspapers. Both of the vocational routes are provisionally accredited by the National Council for the Training of Journalists. The course allows students to combine specific vocational skills with a theoretical understanding of the way in which the media works. Practical subjects include: newspaper and magazine writing, page design, media law, reporting public affairs, research and interviewing skills and shorthand. Media and cultural theory elements include: language in the media and media ethics and contexts.
