
Industry Case Study: the Digital City
DigitalCity is a gregeneration project, in less than three years it has gone from 'paper exercise' to full project attracting investment and collaboration on unprecedented levels. Brimming with innovation, its radically different approach is already producing significant results. Many now see it as one of the most original projects of this type.
DigitalCity's mission is simple: to create a vibrant superstrructure in the Tees Valley based on the digital technology, digital media and creative sectors. The vision is that by 2010 it will be a key part of the regeneration of the Tees valley and have a world reputation for innovation, creativity and daring.
One of the core elements within the DigitalCity project is the development of what has become known as the BoHo Zone - a digital industries quarter in central Middlesbrough.
The forthcoming Digital Enterprise Centre, the first of three buildings comprising the BoHo Zone, will offer businss accomodation for start-up, accelerating and established companies in the digital industry.
Over the last three years, this and other elements within the DigitalCity project have matured into an unrivalled scheme, attracting investment and collaboration in unprecedented degrees. Thanks to high levels of innovation, its radically different approach has already produced some stunning results.
