First Post in the North West & Yorkshire
First Post is an on-the job training scheme for young professionals in their first job in the post-production industry.
The scheme has been piloted in London in 2006 and is about to launch in the North West and Yorkshire in the October 2007.
The training scheme is open to post production staff wanting to gain competencies in all the areas of working in post-production. The scheme is planned to run over 16 weeks on a day release scheme. The scheme will be delivered in partnership with Mancat (New Technology Institute), Futureworks and North West Vision and Media at a central location in Manchester City Centre.
The employer contribution is £700 per employee. The scheme is open to any post production company in the North West or Yorkshire, however priority will be given to the Northern Steering group members who's time and energy in getting the scheme up and running here in Manchester has been invaluable.
The first cohort will exist of 15 trainees but is hoped that this will become a regular programme running every six months.
