New training opportunities for freelancers, employees and new entrants
Do you work in the creative media and digital industries in the North West?
If so you can benefit from £2.8 million's worth of training programmes funded by the North West Development Agency.
Skillset and its partner Northwest Vision and Media are providing training for freelancers, employees of creative businesses and new entrants wanting to get into the creative media industry.
Currently there are 3 training programmes available:
1. Funding for freelancers in:
- New Technologies eg HD archiving, editing, flash, broadcast engineering, software engineering, CGI
- Multi Skilling for Freelancers eg. Moving across genre, moving across sectors.
Cross Platform Technologies eg. Creating content for different platforms such as mobile, web etc, managing new media projects - Media Markets Eg. Consumer/audience insight, audience behaviour, new trends, new platforms, new commissioning deals
2. Television and Digital company placement schemes

- Introduction to Final Cut Pro
- Final Cut Pro for Avid Editors
- Z1 camera for researchers and assistant producers
- 60 Minute CV Makeover
- Media Career Doctor
- Multiplatform Content

Coming in the New Year are: Multi platform journalism skills, Cross media development training - for people working in one area of the media who's like to transfer to another and professional development and business management training for freelancers.
Coming in 2009 are: Leadership and management courses for creative business owners/managers, Placement schemes for people wanting to work in digital media/games companies and mentoring and professional coaching for creative business owners/managers.
