Skillset Scotland work

In Scotland, our Scottish Industry Skills Panel is responsible for guiding and supporting the work we do.

The panel means that Scotland's leading employers, trade unions, further and higher education and public agencies have a say in how we work. Their advice helps us to design ways to build the skills of the 37,000 people working in Scotland's creative media industries.

A main objective of the panel was the development of a Sector Skills Agreement (SSA) for the industry, Scottish Parliament, The Scottish Government and other relevant public agencies and organisations to ensure that Scottish employers have the skills they need, when they need them.

You can download the Sector Skills Agreement here:

Basically, the SSA helps us decide what needs to be done for an agreed period of time - around 3 years. Our research work continues, so that by the end of the next three years we can create a new agreement, tailored to the new challenges facing the industries.

Our job is then to work to help employees, employers, colleges, universities and trainers. We work to find ways to lessen challenges that face people's businesses, career choices and training.
