SCOTLAND: Trade association

    Here you'll find details of trade associations in Scotland and the UK that can offer you support in your working life within creative media.

    aimhirepresents the creative industries in the Highlands and Islands, with networking events, training sessions, lobbying and conferences.

    BAFTA Scotland exists to promote and reward excellence in Scotland's screen industries. BAFTA promotes new and established talent in film, television and interactive media in many ways. Regular preview screenings of major new films, specialist film showcases and other industry events are arranged throughout the year.

    BECTUis the UK's independent union for people working in broadcasting, film, theatre, entertainment, leisure and interactive media. The union represents permanently employed, contract and freelance workers

    British Film Institute promotes British film and television via events, membership, publications and teaching resources.

    cultural enterprise officeprovides information, advice, events and hands–on training in business skills for creative artists throughout Scotland.

    Equity is the trade union for artists including actors, singers, dancers, choreographers, stage managers, theatre directors, designers, stunt performers and television and radio presenters.

    The Film Distributors Association (FDA)is where you can find a UK film distribution guide, film releases and loads more. 

    Hi-Arts is an independent company with charitable status promoting the arts in the Highlands and Islands offering events and training.

    National Union of Journalistsis one of the biggest and best–established journalists' unions in the world. In Scotland, it represents journalists working in all media – broadcasting, newspapers, magazines, books, internet, and public relations.

    Pactis the UK trade association that represents and promotes the commercial interests of independent feature film, television, animation and interactive media companies. 

    scotlandisrepresents internet, software and interactive media businesses throughout Scotland. Members benefit from a number of services, a programme of events and a members' database.

    Scottish Screenis Scotland's main public body for film, television and new media. Scottish Screen provides support for production and distribution under various schemes. They offer a free monthly newsletter 'Rough Cuts'. For newcomers there's the 18 month full–time New Entrants Training Scheme, and educational activities including the annual event, Scottish Students on Screen. 

    TIGA Scotlandis the trade association for independent games developers. Membership is only open to independent games companies, but you can register for their newsletter.

    TRCworks with independent production companies around the UK. TRC provides high–end training for creative talent in programme–making and business leadership.

    Writers' Copyright AssociationWritten a Script? A book? Got a great idea for a TV show and want to make sure it doesn't get ripped off? Services offered include: instant upload and copyright protection of creative material and pitching your work to interested parties.
