How to apply for a Training Bursary
Training Bursaries are money grants for freelancers based in Scotland to spend on training courses.
Scottish Freelancers can apply for up to £1,000 every year. You can make this request in one single application or in multiple applications. Please remember you can apply for more than one course in a single application.

Follow the steps below to apply for a Training Bursary:
- Make sure you are eligible before you apply; check the eligibility criteria here. Read the Training Bursaries Guidelines for full details and to find out how your application will be assessed.

SSTF Training Bursaries Guidelines 2008 - Complete the application form. The form is available to download in MS Word format. Please save it to your computer before completing it electronically. Make sure you answer every question on the form - only complete applications will be accepted.

Your application will need to be supported by some other documentation; for a full list please see the guidelines. - Complete an Individuals Monitoring Form. This form is not part of your application but provides us with important information which will help us to ensure that our application process is equal and open. The information you provide will be used for monitoring purposes only.

Funding Monitoring Form - 2008 - Using the Training Bursaries Guidelines, verify you have included all information and documents requested (i.e. your CV). When you are ready you can submit your application:
- by e-mail to Sharon Hutt at sharonh@skillset.org, or
- by post* to the following address:
FAO: Sharon Hutt | Skillset | 249, West George Street | Glasgow | G2 4QE
*Please note that you will need to enclose 3 copies of your application form if you submit it by post.
Your application needs to reach Sharon by 5pm on 31 January 2009.
What happens next?
We will acknowledge receipt of your application and provide you with a unique reference number. The last page of the Training Bursaries Guidelines shows a timetable which will help know what to expect when submitting your application for a Training Bursary.
If your application is successful you will receive an offer letter outlining the terms and conditions of your grant. You must sign the acceptance letter and return it to us within two weeks from the date the offer is made to you. We reserve the right to withdraw offers not accepted within the two weeks period.
The payment will be split in two installments: 80% for the first payment and 20% for the second. The first payment of 80% is paid once we receive your signed offer letter and bank details.
In order to claim the final 20% of your grant you will need to complete and send the evaluation report available for download below. Please save it to your computer before completing it electronically.

If your application is not successful you will receive a letter informing you of this and the reason(s) why.
