South East Skills Panel
The aim of the South East Skills Panel is to advise Skillset on matters relevant to the industry in the region.
Skillset works with employers, key partners and stakeholders to develop strategies and action plans to ensure the creative media industries in the South East have continued access to the skills and talent they require to remain competitive. This is in line with the Government's Skills Strategy and other related work.
The objectives of the forum are to enable industry, partners and key regional stakeholders to:
- Receive information about current developments in business development and skills;
- Discuss key issues at a strategic level;
- Advise on qualifications development for sectors and occupations
- Consider the implications of developments and identify creative and innovative solutions to potential problems;
- Participate in the on going development and review of the sector qualifications strategy;
- Feed into the work of the Skillset Regional Education Focus Group, facilitating a two way dialogue between the supply and demand sectors within the South East.
The group is chaired by Mike Hapgood, Head of BBC South.
Membership of the group consists of representatives from major regional employers across all areas of the creative media industry, regional support business networks and key stakeholders. Other stakeholders may be invited to attend meetings depending on agenda items.
The meetings take place every three months or as deemed appropriate by members.
