Games QA Apprenticeships
In Creating the Future: The UK Skills Action Plan for the Interactive Media and Computer Games Industries (Section 2.3 / 1 Apprenticeships pp19-21) the Computer Games Skills Forum identified that:
It is acknowledged that apprenticeship training could attract and support a more diverse workforce and perhaps provide and alternative to higher education provision. In addition, a structured approach to training and qualifying new entrants – whether graduate or non graduate – could also diminish artificial boundaries in the workforce.
Working with partners City College Brighton, NCSoft and Partnertrans, Skillset piloted the very first Apprenticeship in QA and Games Production which proved a great success. Four trainees begun a year long placement back in September 2006 within a QA team supplemented by regular training within City College. The Apprenticeship is awarded by City & Guilds.
Following a successful pilot the apprenticeship has become a national opportunity.
