South East FE/HE - Education Focus Group

In the South East, Skillset has established the Education Focus Group. The aim of this group is to advise us on education matters relevant to the formal and informal education sectors and inform our work with Further and Higher Education as part of the South East Collaborative Action Plan. The group will also input into the development and implementation of a qualifications strategy for the audio visual industries, which is in line with the Government's Skills Strategy. It will provide a forum to discuss issues around education and training from a regional perspective, including partnership networks and employer engagement.

The objectives of the group are to enable education institutions, training providers and key regional stakeholders to:

  • receive information about current developments in education and skills;
  • discuss key issues at a strategic level;
  • advise on qualifications development for sectors and occupations;
  • consider the implications of developments and identify creative and innovative solutions to potential problems;
  • participate in the on-going development and review of the sector qualifications strategy;
  • feed into the work of the Skillset Industry Skills Panel for the South East, facilitating a two-way dialogue between the supply and demand sectors within the Region.
This group has a rolling Chair, which is put forward in advance of each meeting and membership comprises representatives from:
  • Further Education;
  • Centres of Vocational Excellence;
  • Higher Education institutions;
  • Regional funding organisations;
  • Key stakeholders;
  • Other stakeholders depending on agenda items.
The meetings take place every three months or as deemed appropriate by members.

For further information about the EFG, please contact Jo Cassey, Skillset South East Regional Manager.
