Let Media Induction Days Help You!
The Media Induction Days project (MIDs) has been developed by key employers from the creative media industries, to enable young people to hear first hand from the professionals the tools they'll need to make headway into industry.
How does this work?
It is anticipated that around 60-80 students will participate at each MID from several Colleges and Universities.
The day itself will look like this:
- Introduction/hosting by Bob Hoad
- Presentation of Media overview ( Advertising/marketing agency)
- Breakout sessions for smaller groups ( TV/Radio/Press/PR/New Media). Students choose any two sectors.
- Ask The Experts. Q & A with Media Panel
Why should I get involved?
The scheme aims to:
- Build a stronger relationship between the colleges and employers
- Support the new Diploma in Creative and Media
- Create a higher level of media understanding for students and course lecturers
- Develop a better level of media literacy
- Identify new talent amongst students for possible employment.
Who has participated in MiDs before?
The colleges who have taken part so far are Hastings College, Chichester College and Sussex Downs and have enjoyed highly successful events to date.
Casey Herbert from ITV Meridian participated as an employer and had this to say:
It was fantastic to meet so many enthusiastic young people, several of whom have already been in touch with me about showing their films on ITV Local, and the possibilities of working with us in the future... I was genuinely impressed with the quality of some of the films they showed me, and the day was invaluable in providing me with an idea of who to look out for from now on.
Great! How do I get in touch to find out more?
If you would like to participate as a college or find out how to get involved as an employer you can contact Jo Cassey (South East Regional Manager) joc@skillset.org, who is working with Bob Hoad (MID Project Manager) to further this successful model.
This project has been developed by Bob Hoad with the support of Skillset.
