The Bristol School of Animation has a national and international reputation for the provision of high quality teaching and training in all aspects of animation production, set design, sound design, interactive multimedia and CG Animation.
Courses Available
3 Month Animation Course - An intensive taught course designed to enhance and develop the professional potential of animators. The course focuses on core craft skills and techniques associated with character animation in either 2D or 3D animation. With the support of local animation companies including Aardman, 422 South, a productions, bolex brothers and the BBC Animation unit the course includes professional seminars. All students complete a showreel of the weekly exercises. Deadlines April & July.

Animation Techniques in Maya - A month long course designed to introduce students to the Maya interface whilst developing skills in the basic principles of animation production.

Short Courses - Short professional courses are haeld throughout the year that focus on different software packages for animation including Maya, Flash, Dreamweaver, Adobe Premier, Adobe AfterEffects, Director 3D Studio Max and Adobe Photoshop.

Summer Schools - Throughout July and August each year we hold a range of specialist animation courses as part of the full range of art, media & design Summer Schools. These include Model making, Storyboarding, Life drawing with Movement, Design for Animation, Mime, Movement and Storytelling, as well as animation workshops for children.
Undergraduate Animation BA (Hons) Options - Students studying Graphic Design, Illustration and Media Practice have an option at Level 2 to specialise in Animation, where they will b introduced to contemporary production processes and principles of animation that may apply within classical 2de, stop frame and computer animation. You can apply for the undergraduate programmes through UCAS.
