Arts Institute Bournemouth
On the 5th July 2005 Bournemouth achieved Screen Academy status and is set to become one of Britain 's key centres for filmmaking after the town's Arts Institute and University won a joint bid.
Media courses at The Arts Institute at Bournemouth include;
BA (Hons) Acting for Theatre, Film and Television
This course provides those aspiring to be successful actors with all the necessary key skills to be able to respond to the demands of the industry - whether in theatre, film or television - and to become creative, flexible and independent artists.
BA (Hons) Animation Production
This course looks at animation production in a broad and holistic way, providing a thoroughly intensive and team-based experience in which students develop a comprehensive understanding of the full production process. The course strives to offer the closest experience possible to that of the professional animator in industry.
BA (Hons) Commercial Photography (progression from Foundation Degree)
BA (Hons) Film Production
This course provides an experience of the many aspects of filmmaking, with an emphasis on live action drama productions. Each student gains a contextual understanding of the entire process of film production and the relationship between all the constituent roles and stages including writing, designing, editing, sound, cinematography, production and direction. As a result, students produce visually exciting and engaging films, to entertain and challenge audiences.
BA (Hons) Graphic Design
Graphic design is a vehicle for communication as well as self-expression. It is about communicating either to inform, educate, delight or persuade. This course aims to foster confident and informed designers who are able bring their own experiences and interests to the course and develop an individual approach to visual problem solving.

This course explores contemporary photographic practice within a broad cultural context, and is underpinned by historical and critical approaches to the medium of photography. Individual creativity and personal ambition are at the centre of the course's philosophy and we encourage an expansive enquiry into the possibilities of photography.
BA (Hons) Production Design
This new course offers the opportunity to develop design skills in great depth with an emphasis on real practice and a high level of creative freedom. Production design is about the 'look' of a film or performance - what is seen on the screen or stage. It is part of the storytelling process. A production designer defines and controls space, liberates text and creates visual worlds.
Foundation Degree in Interactive Media
Interactive multimedia is a new form of communication that has only recently become a part of our everyday lives. On this course we provide a platform for students wanting to work in this exciting new field. Our aim is to prepare students to be able to respond to changing technologies and to develop them at the same time.
Foundation Degree in Commercial Photography
Our aim is to generate the next wave of commercially focused photographers; those that want to push and change the boundaries and genres themselves. This course is not just about responding to the industry - it's about pushing the industry. It is a course for creative thinkers who have the goal of becoming professional photographers.
