Creative Media Clusters in the South West

Bristol Media

Bristol Media is an active network for companies and individuals. They have a membership base. Membership is currently free and provides many benefits which are listed here: Bristol Media Membership

Bristol Media brings together people who engage in the creative and media industries providing them with the opportunity to share ideas, build up skills, identify opportunities and forge new partnerships.

They offer advice, news, information and a varied range of networking and social events. They also arrange larger, high profile events such as the BM Ball and Light Up Bristol.

Training that Bristol Media offers is in conjunction with other organisations.

They have an online directory which has 17 entries under ‘Photography'. Anyone can access the directory but you need to be a Bristol Media member to be listed.

They have a very well used Jobs page where members can upload vacancies.

Cornwall Media Focus

For regularly updated information on Cornwall Media Focus events and news. Cornwall Media Focus is a membership organisation open to anyone working in media in Cornwall. We aim to facilitate the development of a new media cluster for Cornwall, enabling our members to develop knowledge, contacts and skills which will help their businesses to compete more effectively.

Membership of Cornwall Media Focus is free, and open to everyone working in film, TV or new media in Cornwall. Freelancers, crew, production companies, facilities and other media-related services, new media practitioners, anyone interested in building a sustainable media industry.

Gloucestershire Media Group

The GMG's membership comprises of 500 local Media companies as well as Freelancers and is open to anyone working within the Creative Media industry in and around Gloucestershire.





The GMG's main aim is to Grow creative business in the county. The GMG website provides its members with Media news, job/funding opportunities, Festival news, Crew database and much more.

The GMG runs monthly themed networking events and sends out a weekly e-bulleting comprising most recent developments within the industry in Gloucestershire. Additionally, the GMG has recently (June 2008)secured funding from the Learning and Skills Council to support the development of various training strands including business development schemes for established Media businesses and schemes to develop the skills of local Freelancers.

Plymouth Media Partnership


PMP is members based and is free to join.


The' Plymouth Media Partnership (PM-P) incorporates a wide range of companies from graphics, music and photography, to web and games design, broadcast and corporate television production companies.

They offer a variety of services that range from networking events to training sessions. Through these events they can give members access to buyers, market intelligence, technology and specialist advice. They also publish regular newsletters and bulletins for members to share news and information and to raise the profile of member companies.

PM-P provide a website database of companies in the area together with information about business opportunities, jobs and a discussion forum

They also develop networking, dialogue and links with educational institutions, and to facilitate knowledge sharing, collaboration and partnerships between businesses and education

PM-P organise the Media Innovation Awards an event to celebrate and promote the sector across the South West.

The next Media Innovation Awards gala dinner will take place on 12th March 2009 in Bristol.

Wessex Media Group (WMG)

Wessex Media Group is a vibrant creative cluster with diverse members covering digital,TV, film, web, design, based both within the region as well as further a field in France and Germany.

Members are supported with high level networking events at which leading lights within the industry share their creative processes as well as demonstrate the best way to get a commission. The web provides an online members directory, resource for information and advice as well as sector updates.

WMG provides a range of Business Development services on all areas of developing your business including getting a commission, business planning, marketing, sales, negotiation, strategic planning, financial management and intellectual property rights.
