WM EFG
There are no future meetings of the West Midlands Education Focus Group planned at this time.
Thank you to all those of you who have contributed so far.
The EFG has focused on a range of issues since its creation, including industry engagement with education, work-related learning, curriculum design and development and opportunities for sponsorship and support.
The objectives of the Education Focus Group are to enable education institutions, training providers and key regional stakeholders to:
- receive information about current developments in education and skills;
- discuss key issues at a strategic level including development and delivery of the 14-19 Specialised Diploma, Creative and Media;
- advise on qualifications development for sectors and occupations;
- consider the implications of developments and identify creative and innovative solutions to potential problems;
- participate in the ongoing development and review of the Sector Qualifications Strategy
- feed into the work of Skillset Industry Skills forums and events in the West Midlands, facilitating a dialogue between the supply and demand sectors within the region.
In 2006, the Midlands team was successful in securing some funding from Coventry and Warwickshire LSC to support a project looking specifically at industry engagement with FE providers in the region.
A report was produced which mapped provision related to audio visual industries, described a range of engagement activities and profiled a selection of providers across the region.
