Sector Skills Agreement
We are currently revising our Sector Skills Agreement for England and updating our regional profiles to reflect the latest LMI. Documents will be available for download shortly. The SSA will show what industry and government have agreed are the skills development priorities for our sectors and include actions for dealing with them.
West Midlands Education Focus Group:
Following consultation on Skillset's Qualifications Strategy we set up a West Midlands Education Focus Group which has been running for nearly 3 years and meets once a term. It explores how Skillset can support productive working relationships between creative media industries, further and higher education institutions and learning providers in the region.
Representatives from consortia which will be delivering the Diploma in Creative and Media from 2008 also attend this group.
Email jow@skillset.org to join the group. Follow this link for more about Skillset's Sector Qualifications Strategy
Our work with Screen West Midlands, the Regional Screen Agency:
Skillset works in partnership with Screen West Midlands which operates schemes to enable freelancers and small companies to access part–funded, high quality training in audio visual fields.

Our work with Advantage West Midlands, the Regional Development Agency and the LSC:
Skillset have close links with Advantage West Midlands (AWM), and make sure that our regional activity complements AWM's wider regional strategies and initiatives. We participate in AWM's AWM Screen Image and Sound Cluster to identify and develop support for creative media companies in the region.
Regional LSC - West Midlands staff have been active in their support for our sector and we work with them through many forums and activities, providing specialist sector LMI for them to use in planning education and training provision in the region. We're working closely with West Midlands Brokerage Service and Business Link to make sure business support offers like Train to Gain West Midlands are used by our sector.
How Train to Gain can help creative media companies.
