Skillset Supports Screen Yorkshire's Fast Track Training Scheme
Screen Yorkshire's Fast Track Training Scheme 2006, funded by Skillset TV Freelance Fund and Yorkshire Forward, helps talented young people build experience in the media industry.
Five individuals are given an intensive fifteen week placement where they are nurtured and developed in their chosen fields. In 2006, the successful applicants and their specialisms were:
- Alida James, Daisybeck Productions, Leeds (Research)
- Faye Alexander, Television Ruby Ltd, Bad Mothers Handbook (Production Secretary)
- Gemma Metcalfe Beckers, True North Productions, Leeds (Research)
- Marcus Dyanchenko (tbc) (Locations)
- Alison Staples, just finished on Diamond Geezer for ITV Yorkshire starring David Jason (Art Department)
The scheme is not for absolute beginners. This year's Fast Trackers had already taken their first steps in the industry and could demonstrate their enthusiasm. They were also very clear about which area they wanted to specialise in and their relevant experience. Faye Alexander, Production Secretary trainee, added: "Screen Yorkshire's Fast Track Scheme really opens new doors and boosts careers. It's such a competitive industry that I feel privileged to be given this opportunity."
As well as a fifteen week placement, the Fast Trackers will benefit from mentoring during and after the scheme; be given an individual training package; and enjoy access to relevant short courses and financial assistance for the duration of the scheme.
